Jack Coughlan Associates is composed of two interactive disciplines. The first is an architectural practice producing contemporary designs and the second a specialist conservation section. There is a degree of crossover which helps both sections to work together where both disciplines are required. The combination of both roles is becoming the direction in which the practice has been moving, as contemporary interventions based on a full understanding of existing historic buildings and structures can be undertaken with confidence.
Jack Coughlan Associates opened an office in Smithfield in Dublin city centre in 2004.
A recent project undertaken by Jack Coughlan Associates is the Conservation and Conversion of the Old City Waterworks to a Museum and Exhibition Area for Cork City Council, which received the Opus building Award in 2005 and an RIAI Award in 2006. Another award winning conservation project is that at Fenn’s Quay, Cork. Other conservation projects include the Digital Hub in Dublin and a Conservation Study for UCC.
Some recent architectural projects undertaken include the Park and Ride facility at Kinsale Rd, Cork, a new HQ building for Musgrave’s also at Kinsale Rd, a HQ building for the Civil Defence and a Penney’s department store in Tralee, Co. Kerry. |
